Chandragiri Fort Raja Rani Mahal, Tirupathi , Andhra Pradesh
The Chandragiri Fort Museum is situated in Chandragiri, Tirupati District, Andhra Pradesh, near the Kothandaramaswamy temple. The fort covers an area of 25 square kilometers, with the Upper Fort located on Chandragiri hill and the Lower Fort on the ground, housing numerous temples, Raja Mahal, and Rani Mahal.
All the temples and the museum are maintained by the Archaeological Department of India. The fort museum was built by the ruler Immadi Narasimha Yadhavaraya under the Chola dynasty in the 10th century. After the Chola dynasty, these mahals came under the Vijayanagara Empire, followed by the rule of the Mysore kings (Tipu Sultan). Subsequently, the British took control until the government undertook the fort, temples, and mahals.
The Raja Mahal has three floors, featuring God idols, warrior weapons, old coins, and more. The Rani Mahal, situated near the Raja Mahal, includes a water pond within its complex. People believe that there is an underground tunnel leading to the Upper Fort.
