Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple, Mangalore , Karnataka
Shree Rajarajeshwari temple is located at Polali in Kannada District of Karnataka State. The temple’s main Deity is Shri Rajarajeshwari. The temple was built by King Suratha during the 8th century AD and was developed by many dynasties that ruled the region. Shri Rajarajeshwari’s idol is moulded entirely from clay with special medicinal properties.
River Phalguni flows from east on the northern side a furlong way from the temple. This place was being called as Pural and the deity in the temple was known as Porala Devi in several old records and ancient epigraphs available.
The Polali Rajarajeshwari temple conducts annual festivals with plenty of fanfare. Festival Polali Chendu is an important festivel event where football is played to represent the triumph of good over evil.
