The Sotha Vilai beach is one among the most important beaches in the district of Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The beach here stretches over 4 km which make it one among the longest beaches in Tamil Nadu. It is also one among the most seriously affected areas of the district during the2004 Tsunami.
Sothavilai beach is situated in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District. The Beach has smooth waves and the whole place makes us very cool. You will feel some difference while walking in the sandy area of the beach. There is a park for children to play very near to the sea. The Beach has a small tower in which we can see the greenery around the sea. For all age groups it is a pleasant place to sit and relax themselves. It is awesome to see the sunset on the beach. The shallow water makes it differ to another beach. It is about 10 km from Kanyakumari, close to Sanguthurai beach.
Shallow water makes Chothavilai ideal for swimming. With high sand dunes in the background and an endless aqua blue sea stretching into distance, the few hours spent at this beach will be truly memorable.
An added attraction – the waters here are shallow so you can enjoy a leisurely swim or just take a dip in the lovely sea. The beach is positively charming thanks to the rolling sand dunes and the aquamarine waters. Even the drive to Chothavilai is splendid, along coastal roads that offer sweeping sea views. Sothavilai Beach was hit by the disastrous 2004 tsunami but the local administration has done some great work in reconstructing and refurbishing this beautiful spot.

Sotha Vilai Beach is a great spot for a picnic. Spend a leisurely morning or afternoon here relaxing on its pristine sandy beach and take pleasure in the aquamarine brilliance of the sea. Enjoy a swim in its shallow waters. You could head to the view tower to drink in the beauty of the milieu. If you are looking for trinkets, you could pick up decorative sea shells which are quite popular with tourists.

This Beach is located in the Kanyakumari district. It is 8 km south from Nagercoil which is the capital of Kanyakumari district. Also 4 km east from Sangu Thurai beach. It is well connected from Kanyakumari & Nagercoil.
