Kuntala Waterfalls, Adilabad

Kuntala Waterfalls is situated in the middle of the Sahyadri mountain range near Neredikonda village in Adilabad. This waterfall is the highest waterfall of the state of Andhra Pradesh. According to the legend, Kuntala Waterfall was named after Shakuntala, beloved of King Dushyanta. It is believed that both Shakuntala and Dushyanta fell in love with each other at this site.







 Moreover, it is a common belief that Shakuntala used to take bath in this waterfall. Travellers can also visit the famous temple dedicated to Someshwara Swami, which is situated close to Kuntala Waterfalls. This temple is visited during the festival of Mahashivratri.
